Field Trip Monday

It was a rainy day here on O’ahu so the boys and I decided to have a field trip day!  We kicked it off with a visit to the Art Explorium for their open studio time. The boys loved the recycle, reuse table and made a whole bunch of stuff out of trash basically lol!

G made a shirt and a bracelet!

And a house with crazy trees!

Finnegan made multiple things lol!  An ornament, a house, a few secret necklaces.

After we wrapped up art we drove over to the Bishop Museum. We had a quick lunch and got in in time for a really cool show in the planetarium about how wayfinders use the stars. We got to help navigate from Tahiti to Hawai‘i using the stars!

After learning about stars we watched  a lava melt demo and got to hold various types of lava rock.

Intently listening.

About to pour out the hot lava!  She is enclosed in some crazy metal mesh.

Giant clam shell

Is that finnegan or duke lol!

Volcano slide!

After learning about wayfinding and volcanos we switched gears to learn about animation!

Learning how to  use stop motion animation.

Finnegan trying it out.

Working on some cartoon sketches.

We ended the day with a family sunset pillbox hike.  Grayson has decided that we need to hike the pillbox every other day.   I’m hoping that it won’t take too many more times before my legs don’t burn the whole way up lol!

We are excited for our next guest arriving tomorrow...Carlos!!!  Aloha!

PS this is happening right now. Ted and G snuggled up on the floor watching radiology videos.
