Maui Part 2

We didn’t think we could get any better than our first full day in Maui but our next day was pretty awesome!

We hit breakfast at The Gazebo again!  Don’t worry no food pics lol!  

This was pool side at our resort.  Unfortunately it isn’t quite whale season but when it is in another month this is supposed to be the perfect spot!

After posting Mai Tai pictures on Instagram Marybeth informed me that her all time favorite Mai Tai was a frozen one at the Four Seadins in Wailea.  So we had to try it!!


It came in a real pineapple and was delicious!!
  
My goal for the day was to snorkel and swim with sea turtles, I’ve become a bit obsessed.  Maui Revealed helped us find a great spot, Poolenalena Beach. 


The only downside was it had gotten a little rough.

We wrapped up snorkeling and decided we had time for one last stop before we got on the plane, Maui Brewing Company.  We wish we had had more time there as it was such a neat place!

Cheers!  This is what the end of a fun day in Maui should look like!  My new headband was working hard  covering my very salty, messy hair!

Our 2 nights in Maui were fantastic but definitely not enough.  We will return and Road to Hana is a must do next time!

Twilight Zoo Tour

As we get closer to heading back to NH we are trying to check off what is left on our to do list.  This afternoon/early evening we headed to the Honolulu Zoo for a twilight tour. We had heard mixed reviews of the Zoo and were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was and what a wonderful experience the guided tour was! We learned so much from our two guides, one of whom was an 11th grade volunteer!  He was a font of knowledge and at the end spent another 15 min with us showing us all the different skills in the education center.  Komodo Dragon Black Rhinoceros Meerkat Baboons Lions were super active! Zebras Giraffes Rainbow over the African savanah He was killing some bamboo! Tortoise! You can see diamond head in the background.  Just made me laugh!  And not at the Zoo...at a local restaurant!

Fabulous Friday!

Ted survived his first call!  We hit eggs ‘n things for a ridiculous breakfast before we hit the North Shore! I’ve turned into a person that takes pictures of her food...what?!  I should have taken the picture of nothing left on this plate while the rest of my family kept eating! Next stop Sunset Beach to check out the HIC Pro, the last qualifier for the Triple Crown of Surfing (starts mid November here on Oahu).  Turns out the waves were too crazy so the competition was off for the day.  It was still awesome to see the waves! Little surfer dudes! Next stop the Banzai Pipeline!  The whole beach was caution taped off and there was no one in the water! Next stop Shark Cove!  The craziest thing is that in the summer this is a protected, calm, snorkeling spot.   Last North Shore stop was Matsumoto’s for shave ice! Surfing!

We had the best time this morning learning how to surf!  We were in Waikiki bright and early (7:15 am!!) and met up with Al, Shelby and Pui from Alysha Surf School who were amazing!   They were so patient with all of us!  After a few minutes on the shore learning we headed off to the water.  Each of us rode the first wave we tried!!  I went last and was sure I was going to fall since the other 3 had done so well lol!  Al taught us what to look for in a wave and got us each set up for several.  The cutest was when he put G and F on a wave at the same time!   Ted and I rode our last wave together, I was sure we were going to crash into each other but we didn’t....phew!
