Field Trip Friday!

The boys and I had a great day at the University of Hawai‘i SOEST (School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology) open house https://www.soest.hawaii.edu/soestwp/2017-soest-open-house/ .  It happens every 2 years and was crazy!   We probably made it to 1/4 of the exhibits.   Here are a bunch of pictures from the day!

Weird fish that live in the depths of Antarctica that the boys both swear were called Ice Fish

Looking at the Dumbo Octopus

The cookie cutter shark.  This is as big as they get and they eat by taking cookie cutter size chunks out of bigger fish like tuna.

Learning about sea turtles from NOAA.  We tried to find someone who knew Aunt Nic but we failed lol!  Although it prompted us to text Aunt Nic which led to a trip to Leonard’s which was ono!!!

Leonard’s for fresh, hot malasadas (Portuguese donuts)

A really fun day!  Now we just need to decide if we are going back to SOEST tomorrow with Ted to see all the stuff we missed today!

Night, night!
