Happy Halloween!

Despite missing our friends and NH Halloween traditions we had a fun day!

Grayson received a fun package from Mrs. Gould with a huge pile of postcards from all his classmates and both teachers!  He was sooo excited!



We carved pumpkins before it was time to trick or treat!  Brandi and Maria asked to have theirs carved too!



Just realized I never got a pic of the finished product...ooops!

Then it was time to trick or treat!!!  


It was way too hot for my striped knee socks lol!  You know you are in Hawai‘i when you trick or treat in slippers aka flip flops!

It was weird to just be a little group of 3 but we made the best of it!!  There were lots of really decorated houses with people all dressed up. It was fun to see some of the fancier houses up close in the neighborhood. And everyone was super nice!!

Not to worry the boys made out like bandits!




And G scored some glasses lol!

All in all a great Halloween!   Tomorrow brings us Aunt Kath!  We are super excited for her arrival!!

Happy Birthday Xavi, it’s already 11/1 on the east coast!

Twilight Zoo Tour

As we get closer to heading back to NH we are trying to check off what is left on our to do list.  This afternoon/early evening we headed to the Honolulu Zoo for a twilight tour. We had heard mixed reviews of the Zoo and were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was and what a wonderful experience the guided tour was! We learned so much from our two guides, one of whom was an 11th grade volunteer!  He was a font of knowledge and at the end spent another 15 min with us showing us all the different skills in the education center.  Komodo Dragon Black Rhinoceros Meerkat Baboons Lions were super active! Zebras Giraffes Rainbow over the African savanah He was killing some bamboo! Tortoise! You can see diamond head in the background.  Just made me laugh!  And not at the Zoo...at a local restaurant!

Fabulous Friday!

Ted survived his first call!  We hit eggs ‘n things for a ridiculous breakfast before we hit the North Shore! I’ve turned into a person that takes pictures of her food...what?!  I should have taken the picture of nothing left on this plate while the rest of my family kept eating! Next stop Sunset Beach to check out the HIC Pro, the last qualifier for the Triple Crown of Surfing (starts mid November here on Oahu).  Turns out the waves were too crazy so the competition was off for the day.  It was still awesome to see the waves! Little surfer dudes! Next stop the Banzai Pipeline!  The whole beach was caution taped off and there was no one in the water! Next stop Shark Cove!  The craziest thing is that in the summer this is a protected, calm, snorkeling spot.   Last North Shore stop was Matsumoto’s for shave ice! Surfing!

We had the best time this morning learning how to surf!  We were in Waikiki bright and early (7:15 am!!) and met up with Al, Shelby and Pui from Alysha Surf School who were amazing!   They were so patient with all of us!  After a few minutes on the shore learning we headed off to the water.  Each of us rode the first wave we tried!!  I went last and was sure I was going to fall since the other 3 had done so well lol!  Al taught us what to look for in a wave and got us each set up for several.  The cutest was when he put G and F on a wave at the same time!   Ted and I rode our last wave together, I was sure we were going to crash into each other but we didn’t....phew!
